Exercise 9: My One Word

This is a self-development tool with three simple steps created by Mike Ashcraft and Rachel Olsen. This tool is aimed at helping one understand the person he wants to be, the characteristics of the person and then picking out one ‘watch’ word that will help you become that person and be happier.

Aim:

The ONE WORD is your watch word which guides you in actualizing your goals.

  1. Give yourself time to reflect on the person you want to become or the person you are actually created to become.
  2. Identify the characteristics of that person – using goal-oriented characteristic of the person that will lead you into actualizing your desire.
  3. Pick a word.
  4. There is a chance that you might have more than 10 to 20 words and characteristics, narrow it down to your top 5
  5. Choose only one word and work towards it.
